Train service facility in Hallsberg
The strategic railway location of Hallsberg is perfectly located for servicing railway rolling stock. High volumes of train traffic pass continuously, making this a convenient location for service and maintenance. Early on, Train Alliance identified a need for a high-performance wheel-turning facility, and in 2016 commenced project planning for a new train service facility in Hallsberg.
Focus on quality and efficiency
Train Alliance wanted to create an efficient, effective train service facility that minimises the time spent in the workshop and gets trains in service as quickly as possible. Consequently, several different wheel-turning manufacturers were evaluated before Train Alliance eventually decided on the German company Hegenscheidt. Hegenscheidt produces a tandem lathe that can turn two wheelsets within one bogie at the same time, which halves the time it takes. In Sweden, Hegenscheidt is represented by Servus AB, which was Train Alliance’s point of contact throughout the project. Andy Lawler is sales manager at Servus.

One of the most modern facilities in Europe
Project planning and construction of the train service facility in Hallsberg were conducted between 2016 and 2018 by Train Alliance. It is one of the most modern facilities in Europe, boasting high-performance production technology. For customers, this means a high level of rolling stock availability.
The facility has been leased to TXG Maintenance since February 2018. Thanks to the strategic location of the facility, the catchment area covers a large number of railway companies that need access to the facility’s turning capacity. As at 2019, TXG Maintenance has 18 different railway companies that regularly use Train Alliance’s train service facility in Hallsberg.
