A new rail-connected logistics center is emerging in Västerås
A new rail-connected logistics center is being developed in Tillberga, just north of Västerås. This initiative is a strategic investment aimed at improving logistics capabilities in the Mälardalen region, with the goal of creating a sustainable logistics hub for the future.
Large area with space for many
Train Alliance, the company behind the initiative, plans to develop a modern logistics center with direct rail connections on a 915,000 square meter area that will house several different rail terminals. The logistics center will enable companies to streamline their transport and distribution chains, aligning with the region’s growing need for advanced logistics solutions.
Strategic importance for the region
The new logistics center is strategically located with direct rail connections, making it an ideal place for companies seeking sustainable and efficient transport and logistics solutions. In collaboration with the city of Västerås, Train Alliance will be able to develop a modern and well-integrated logistics hub that strengthens the region’s logistical capacities, contributing to economic growth and new job opportunities.
Enabling green transport solutions
The area is also planned to contribute to the green transition. Sustainable transport will be facilitated with intermodal terminals where rail-bound transports are transferred to electric trucks for the last mile to the customer. Several such terminals are planned in the area.
The logistics center will be powered by green electricity from a solar park with energy storage. Solar panels and batteries will be installed on terminal roofs and on the ground. The large roof areas also provide opportunities for planting and space for biodiversity and water collection.
Lock terminal opens opportunities for more
A lock terminal is also planned, where several different stakeholders can share the capacity at a terminal. This creates opportunities for attractive solutions even for companies that do not need their own rail-connected freight terminals.
Flexible infrastructure development
The plans include laying new rail infrastructure within the area to ensure smooth integration with national and regional transport networks, adapted for full trains with the right system lengths. As an infrastructure manager, Train Alliance has a unique opportunity to independently develop the rail infrastructure in the area. This provides unique opportunities to design solutions that meet the specific needs of future tenants and partners.
Planned availability
Train Alliance expects to be able to offer land for establishment at the beginning of 2025. Interested companies are welcome to contact us now to discuss opportunities and plan for future establishments.
