Lock terminals

A lock terminal is a smaller, rail-connected terminal designed to handle several different types of goods, such as containers, pallets, or timber. It is a modern rail freight terminal that enables fossil-free freight flows all the way to consumers in urban areas.

To create opportunities for a green transport chain and fossil-free goods flows to consumers in urban areas, businesses, and industries, Train Alliance equips the lock terminals with charging stations for electric vehicles for efficient transshipment. Thereby, a green transport chain can be offered also for the last mile, between the terminal and the company, business, or consumer.

Lock terminals are located on sidings from the main railway system, which are operated by Train Alliance. The concept can also be applied at other locations where a flexible solution is required.

Lock terminals are a cost-efficient and flexible alternative to laying tracks to each building, industrial site, or individual recipient of goods. By coordinating interests and entering into long-term leases with customers, Train Alliance can design, finance, and construct lock terminals in an optimal and cost-efficient manner.
